Explorer's Club
The LA GEAR UP Explorer's Club is an initiative developed to help students explore their current interests as well as develop new interests while focusing primarily on academic, behavioral, and leadership development as well as promoting school and community involvement.
Southeast was chosen as an Explorers Club site in the 08-09 school year and was established with the following mission: "Helping students achieve by developing positive behaviors, exploring their interests, promoting a love and desire for learning, and improving themselves, their schools and their community." Southeast students are selected to join the Explorers Club by an application process. There are currently 19 student members and 2 faculty representatives, Ms. Kim Alexander and Mr. George Maddocks.
Membership in the Explorers Club program is limited to students currently enrolled in the 7th and 8th grade. Application to join the program will begin in October of 2009.
