2009-2010 Southeast Middle School Improvement Plan
Southeast Middle School’s School Improvement Plan focuses on two major objectives; to increase the students’ test scores in the areas of math and English Language Arts. Our Instructional Management Team; made up of five teachers representing English, math, science, social studies and writing across the curriculum are working with our faculty and staff this year to help implement the comprehensive curriculum and focus on writing Constructed Responses and using LEAP rubrics to grade all writing.
Other focus areas in our School Improvement Plan include, Differentiated Instruction which focuses on meeting the learning needs of all students and working with Data to help teachers make descisions about what and how to teach the students.
We continue to work with the READ 180 and Language! programs to assist struggling readers. Literacy strateguies and the Accelerated Reader Program are being used to help improve the reading and English scores of our all our students.
This year we continue to have the Core Knowledge Acceleration Program to meet the needs of our over age population. This program is designed to accelerate 6th and 7th graders to the 8th grade level during the school year allowing them to take the 8th grade LEAP in the spring and begin high school in the fall.
