Description of Course
English Language Arts is the study of reading, spelling, literature, and composition for the purpose of developing reading and writing skills. Through studies and practice in reading comprehension, synthesizing information, analyzing literature, and applying reasoning, and problem-solving, students increase their ability to effectively understand literature. Also, through practice in using conventions of language, punctuation, and proofreading strategies, students increase their ability to write competently. The major goal of English Language Arts is to create better readers and writers who can effectively communicate and express ideas in oral and written language. These skills are crucial to every course or job a student will ever engage in throughout his/her life.
