Description of Course
The research-based LANGUAGE! Curriculum uses brain based research to challenge students far beyond their current reading capacity. We have set an ambitious class goal for each student to grow a minimum of two grades in reading fluency and comprehension. Our units are broken down into themes; however, we will be addressing the same six areas all year long: Phonemic Awareness and Phonics, Word Recognition and Spelling, Vocabulary and Morphology, Grammar and Usage, Listening and Comprehension, and Speaking and Writing.
Textbook
The textbook for this class is Cambium’s LANGUAGE! Series Books A-D. These textbooks will be provided to students to complete in class activities. No text book will be needed to complete homework assignments. Homework serves as a review; assignments are designed so students will have the knowledge and ability to complete them without the textbook.
