DESCRIPTION OF COURSE
Read 180 is a research based reading intervention program designed to raise the reading levels and test scores of struggling readers. Read 180 is the answer to the number one problem in education today: students reading below grade level.
Research with thousands of students has shown that Read 180 is very effective in restoring students’ self esteem and getting them back on track to reading at grade level.
Students move through areas of instruction in each class. When working in small groups of five or six, teachers can teach reinforce and practice skills using the rBook. Computer software instruction is entirely individualized to provide intensive skills practice. In the independent reading corner, students can choose from a wide variety of books to build fluency and reading comprehension.
TEXTBOOK
Students will use the rBook or the rBook Flex, depending on grade level.
Each book is divided into nine “workshops” which teach skills through interesting, relevant subjects such as immigration, peer pressure and science and social studies.
