Welcome to the course of Social Studies. In the 6th grade we will be following along the Louisiana State Curriculum beginning with geography and leading into early man. The course will cover human existence from the beginning of man, human migration, mans nomadic journey to farming and herding leading into the first river valley civilizations and the beginning of early empires. The course will cover the advancements, innovations and technologies of early societies to study how they rose to empires and what eventually led to their demise. The course of World History will study the cultural impact of civilizations and the mark they left on modern society; their religion, family values, cultural practices, education, as well as the economic trends of the ancient societies.
Students will be given Edusoft test for each unit, it is important that students take these tests seriously. The assignments; classroom and homework as well as projects are designed to prepare students for each unit’s assessment. These tests are a reflection of the how well the student should do on the ILEAP standardized test.
